WALL STREET
The stock market closed at a new 18-month high Friday, with the Dow Jones industrial average briefly touching 11,000 before retreating slightly.
The gains were driven by fresh signs that the economy continues to recover and suggests that investors don't expect the economy will slide back into recession.
Stocks got a boost after reassuring statements from Greece's finance minister and the head of the European Central Bank. Major European indexes closed higher, while the US dollar fell against the euro.
A report on wholesale inventories Friday provided the latest positive sign on the economy.
Rising commodity prices (excluding oil) also helped energy and material stocks, pushing indexes higher. Commodities mostly climbed on hopes demand will jump as the economy continues to improve.
Oil prices eased on Friday for a third day, dropping below $US85 as traders questioned whether Americans were consuming enough fuel to justify higher prices.
Two stocks rose for every one that fell on the New York Stock Exchange, where volume was 970 million versus 1 billion shares Thursday.
Gold futures settled at a fresh four-month high Friday as prices overcame a wobbly start to rally on rekindled concerns about the global economic recovery. Gold for June delivery, the most active contract, added $9, or 0.8%, to end at $1,161.90 an ounce on Comex, the highest for a most-active contract since early December.

Bronzewing Mill Commissioned
Navigator Resources(ASX: NAV) is pleased to announce the achievement of its key Bronzewing mill commissioning milestone.
Initial mill testing at the Bronzewing Gold Project commenced on Saturday, 3 April 2010. Since that time, site maintenance and commissioning staff have been undertaking scheduled maintenance activities, including alignment of the SAG mill drive train and re-tensioning newly installed mill liner bolts, as well as remedying minor electrical defects.
As of Thursday, 8 April 2010, SAG mill commenced normal operations.
Mill throughput commenced at 150 tonnes per hour ("tph") and will gradually increase over to 250tph (equivalent to the budgeted 2.0 million tonnes per annum) in the coming days.
Navigator confirms previous market advice that it expects to produce its first gold bullion during the month of April.

LEONORA ORE HAULAGE COMMENCES
Further to its announcement of 31 March 2010 titled "First Ore Mined at Leonora", Navigator Resources (ASX: NAV) is pleased to advise that it commenced road haulage of ore from the Cardinia area to St Barbara Ltd's (ASX: SBM) processing plant at Leonora on Thursday, 8 April 2010.
Navigator's Managing Director David Hatch said "Mining contractor GWH is performing well. Since double shift operations commenced in late March and when mining reached the ore horizon, the first parcel of 30,000 tonnes of Bruno supergene ore has been generated very quickly."
Haulage of that initial parcel will continue over the coming week, with processing scheduled to commence in mid April.
Navigator advises that mining conditions at Bruno to date have been better than expected. Providing this trend continues, the Company can expect to achieve higher productivity and associated lower unit costs with a future full scale mining operation.

It is in line with our recent comments that benchmark pricing only works if it reflects market fundamentals, otherwise the system would need to change."

WALL STREET
The stock market recovered from an early slide after an increase in retail sales overshadowed concerns about Greece's debt problems and the job market.
A disappointing report on initial jobless claims added to the downbeat mood early in the day. The Labor Department said initial claims for jobless benefits rose unexpectedly last week, jumping 18,000 to a seasonally adjusted 460,000.
The Dow Jones industrial average finished with a gain of 30 points after being down 53 and falling the prior two days. Broader indexes also rose.
Advancing stocks narrowly outpaced those that fell on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume came to 4.8 billion shares, compared with 4.4 billion Wednesday.
Crude oil eased 49 cents to $85.39 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Precious metals traders decided to take a rest day Thursday as prices closed near steady to slightly lower on some mild profit-taking pressure and some consolidation of the recent price gains. A firmer U.S. dollar index did limit buying interest in gold Thursday. June Comex gold closed down $0.10 at $1,152.90 an ounce.

Operations resume at BassGas following maintenance campaign
Origin Energy Resources Limited, as operator of the BassGas Joint Venture, announces that operations have recommenced at the facility following a major planned maintenance program.
The planned shutdown commenced on 22 November 2009 and maintenance activities were undertaken on the onshore gas plant, the offshore production platform and producing wells.
The facility is progressively being brought back online. Production is initially from Yolla-4 only, which is currently producing at a rate of around 50 terajoules per day during this ramp up phase.
Following this, wireline operations will resume at Yolla-3 where equipment used to isolate the well during the maintenance operations needs to be retrieved before production can recommence.....

Origin executes $2.6 billion of new bank debt facilities
Origin Energy Limited ("Origin") has today executed a syndicated bank loan for A$2.3 billion and US$200 million together with an A$100 million bilateral bank guarantee facility.
Origin's Executive Director, Finance and Strategy, Ms Karen Moses, said "The facilities, which will be used to refinance Origin’s maturing debt, have terms of between three and five years providing further flexibility as we continue to grow our business.
"The solid support that we received from domestic and international debt markets evidences the strength of our business and financial profile."
The syndicated facility was launched with a targeted size of A$1.8 billion and US$200 million, and focussed on the Australian and Asian bank debt markets. Following strong demand from Origin's existing bank group, as well as from new banks, the facility was closed significantly oversubscribed and Origin accepted A$500 million of over subscriptions.
The new facilities consist of three and five year revolving debt with $1.9 billion maturing in five years and $0.7 billion maturing in three years. Origin's portfolio of debt facilities will now have an average maturity of 4.4 years.
The new facilities will be used to refinance A$1.8 billion and US$200 million of existing facilities that mature in Financial Years 2010 and 2011.
Origin has a long term rating of BBB+ from Standard and Poor's and Baa1 from Moody's.

Updated Elazac Process Test Results
Following Haoma Mining's March 29, 2010 release to the ASX advising shareholders of Haoma’s latest Elazac Process Test results, Haoma is pleased to advise shareholders that bulk trials using the Refined Elazac Process on a sample of Bamboo Creek Tailings have continued at the Bamboo Creek Plant and obtained a significant result.
The latest trial used the Refined Elazac Extraction Method to extract metal from a 56 kg sample of Bamboo Creek Tailings.
Metal recovered at Bamboo Creek was then refined at the West Australian Mint where 3.11 grams of fine gold was recovered. The fine gold recovered from the 56 kg of Bamboo Creek Tailings equates to a gold grade of 55.536 g/t.
The residue (tail) from the Refined Elazac Extraction Method measured 0.364 g/t gold.
This equates to a Head Grade for the Bamboo Creek Tailings of 55.90 g/t gold. As advised on March 29, 2010 conventional assays for this Bamboo Creek tailings sample were:
- Conventional Aqua Regia Assay: 0.302 g/t Au and 0.000 g/t Ag.
- Conventional Fire Assay: 0.152 g/t Au and 0.091 g/t Ag.
There are approximately one million tonnes of Bamboo Creek Low-Grade ore and an additional one million tonnes of Bamboo Creek Tailings material available for processing through the Bamboo Creek Plant. - Web Site

WALL STREET
A late-day slide broke the stock market's calm Wednesday after concerns grew that shares are overheated.
A disappointing drop in consumer borrowing and a slide in oil prices hit a market that analysts said has been looking tired. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 72 points after repeated attempts this week to cross the psychological threshold of 11,000. It hasn't been above that level in 18 months.
It was the Dow's biggest drop since Feb. 23. It had been down by as much as 125 points during the day, its first triple-digit slide since February.
The market found some support in afternoon trading following strong demand at a government bond auction.
The drop in stocks resumed in the final hour of trading, however, after the Federal Reserve said consumer borrowing fell by $11.5 billion in February.
About two stocks fell for every one that rose on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume came to 4.4 billion shares compared with 4.1 billion Tuesday.
The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies fell 2.02, or 0.3 percent, to 699.46.
Crude oil fell 96 cents to $85.88 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after hitting an 18-month high on Tuesday.
Japan's Nikkei stock average rose 0.1 percent. Japan's central bank said it would hold its key interest rate steady, and that it sees a recovery taking hold.
Copper prices eased as traders worried the metals' recent run higher may have been overdone, with investors cashing in some gains after the red metal rose to 20-month highs in the previous session.
Comex gold futures pushed to a fresh 2.5-month high Wednesday on fresh speculative buying interest and building upside technical momentum. Ongoing investor demand for physical gold is also underpinning this latest rally. June Comex gold futures closed up $17.00 at $1,153.00. The precious yellow metal was able to score solid gains Wednesday, despite a firmer U.S. dollar index. That is yet another bullish near-term clue for gold.

KARARA IRON ORE OFF-TAKES FINALISED WITH ANSTEEL
AGREEMENTS COVER 100% OF PRODUCTION TONNAGE FOR LIFE OF MINE
Gindalbie Metals Limited (ASX: GBG - "Gindalbie") is pleased to announce the finalisation of a long-term off-take contract with its joint venture partner, Ansteel, covering the life-of-mine production from the Karara Iron Ore Project in Western Australia.
The execution of this landmark agreement between the joint venture company Karara Mining Limited (KML) and Angang Group International Trade Corporation, valued at more than US$65 billion over the life of the project, marks another key milestone for the Karara Project, where construction commenced late last year.
The contract covers the total magnetite concentrate production from the Karara operations. Stage one production, based on a rate of 8Mtpa, is scheduled to be commissioned in late 2011, however Karara hosts a world-class iron ore resource with the potential to produce more than 30Mtpa for a life of 30 years. As part of stage one construction the partners are already building parts of the infrastructure (rail, port, power, water) to support much higher production levels in anticipation of future expansions.
Based on the 2009 Benchmark iron ore fines price and stage one production rate, the offtake agreement is worth approximately US$580 million a year increasing to more than US$2.1 billion a year at the project’s potential production rate. - Web Site

Four Rivers Project Crosby 31-10 No.1 Well Commences
Drilling of the next well in the Four Rivers Project, the Crosby 31-10 No.1 well in the Saukum Field Prospect, commenced over the Easter weekend in the United States. The well will be drilled to a depth of 7,800 feet. Drilling and logging are expected to be completed early next week.
The Crosby 31-10 No.1 is the first offset well to the Crosby 31-11 No.1 which was drilled and completed in November 2009 and produces at a steady rate of 65 barrels of oil per day. The objectives in drilling this well are to intersect the same oil bearing Middle Wilcox sands as the Crosby 31-11 No.1, while gaining structure and expanding the extent of the known oil reservoir, and to test deeper sands in the region. - Web Site

WALL STREET
The Dow Jones industrial average edged close to the 11,000 mark but failed to cross it for a second day.
The Dow ended down about 4 points in quiet trading, while broader indexes rose. Interest rates eased after rising on Monday.
About three socks rose for every two fell on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume came to a light 4.1 billion shares compared with 3.8 billion Monday.
Crude oil rose 22 cents to $86.84 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after reaching an 18-month high of $87.09 a barrel.
Copper hit a 20-month high above $8,000 a tonne on Tuesday, due to robust U.S. jobs, service sector and housing data that lifted the demand outlook for base metals.
Fresh speculative buying interest, including a "buy-the-dip" mentality, boosted the gold market Tuesday, as prices hit a fresh four-week high. June Comex gold futures closed up $2.20 at $1,136.00 Tuesday. Gold prices rallied Tuesday despite a stronger U.S. dollar index. Some fresh worries about Greece meeting its debt obligations sunk the Euro currency, which in turn prompted some fresh safe-haven buying of gold from European traders.

OIL SEARCH
DRILLING REPORT - 8 April 2010
WELL NAME: Wasuma 1 ST2, PNG
Oil Search reports that as at 06:00 (PNG / AEST) time on 8 April, the Wasuma-1 ST2 well had reached a total depth of 3,900 metres and preparations were underway to complete the well logging programme. Drilling progress for the week was 1,072 metres.
The preliminary interpretation of electric log data indicates that a 3 metre zone of hydrocarbons is present within the Lower Iagifu sandstone. However, both the Iagifu and Toro reservoir intervals intersected in Wasuma-1 ST2 are thinner and of poorer quality than pre-drill expectations and the well is considered to be non-commercial. The forward plan on completion of the logging programme is to plug and abandon the well.
Importantly, Wasuma 1 ST2 has confirmed the development of a valid footwall structure at Wasuma Deep and the presence of a hydrocarbon charge in the footwall. These results have further de-risked the footwall play in the Foldbelt and highlight the potential of similar footwall structures that have been mapped in adjacent acreage, in areas with known better reservoir development.
WELL NAME: Al Meashar-1, Block 7, Yemen
Oil Search reports that during the week, testing of the Al Meashar-1 well continued. The second drill-stem test (DST), covering the basement section over the interval 3,180 to 3,660 metres, is currently underway. Flow rates have averaged approximately 600 barrels of oil and mud per day and have periodically tested higher as the well cleans up. This test has confirmed oil production from the basement section.
A final DST over a sandstone interval within the Meem Formation is being considered and would commence following completion of the second DST.

Panax Geothermal Ltd ("Panax") is pleased to advise that the scheduled short clean-up flow test has been successfully completed. The test was conducted at variable flow rates, with downhole instruments used for logging pressure, temperature and flow. A significant amount of steam was released after production flows to surface reached boiling point temperatures (100°C).
A bottom hole temperature ("BHT") of 156°C was recorded at 4,015m, with approximately 130°C being recorded at 3,000m (being the top of the approximately 1,000m thick target reservoir), which are both in line with earlier estimates. The BHT is expected to increase further as the temperatures in the well have not yet fully recovered from the cooling action of the recently completed drilling..... - Web Site

AZUMAH SET TO INCREASE RESOURCES AFTER MORE STRONG DRILLING RESULTS
Regional exploration program intensified in push to establish multi-million-ounce gold inventory to support 100,000 ounce-a-year-plus production profile
- More excellent drilling results pave way for maiden resource estimate at the Collette deposit including;
- 20m grading 7.43g/t gold from 76m (ACORC070)
- Drilling underway to extend the interim 350,100 ounce Julie resource
- Drilling underway to extend resources in 750,000 ounce Kunche-Bepkong district
- Lycopodium appointed to scope Feasibility Study
- Influential Canadian broker Clarus Securities puts Azumah on its global watch list
West African gold company Azumah Resources (ASX:AZM) is pleased to announce that it is poised to increase its 1.1 million ounce gold resource inventory after receiving more strong drilling results from its Wa Gold Project in Ghana.
The latest results, which come from the Collette deposit, include 20m grading 7.43g/t gold from 76m (ACORC070).
The drilling program is aimed at establishing a maiden resource at Collette, which will then be added to the existing Wa Gold Project resource inventory of 1.1 million ounces. This figure, which comprises 17.02 million tonnes grading 2g/t gold, was updated last month after Azumah unveiled a maiden interim resource of 350,100 ounces for Julie deposit - 4km west of Collette...... - Web Site

NEW YORK
Stocks advance as jobs report, improvement in services industries boost recovery hopes
Stronger reports on jobs and the nation's services industries lifted stocks Monday and pushed the Dow Jones industrial average toward the 11,000 mark.
The Dow rose 46 points and moved closer to crossing the psychological benchmark of 11,000 for the first time in 18 months. Growing confidence about the economy hurt demand for Treasurys and drove up interest rates. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note briefly rose to 4 percent, its highest level since June.
The government's report Friday that the economy posted its biggest job gain in three years in March raised expectations that a recovery is taking hold. Reports Monday of strong improvements in demand at services businesses and in the housing market added to an optimistic mood among traders.
Three stocks rose for every one that fell on the New York Stock Exchange. Consolidated volume came to a light 3.8 billion shares, in line with Thursday.
Oil prices reached their highest level in nearly 18 months on Monday, pushing beyond the narrow range they were trading at during the first quarter of 2010, as the markets reacted to last week's jobs report.
Copper jumped to the highest price since August 2008 after a government report showed U.S. employers added the most jobs in three years, boosting the outlook for raw-materials demand.
June Comex gold futures closed up $7.70 at $1,133.80 Monday. Prices closed nearer the session high and hit another fresh two-week high. A weaker U.S. dollar index and higher crude oil prices supported buying interest in the precious metals again Monday.

Tax ruling increases recent KPMG valuation for Outokumpu to A$44M - A$122M
Universal Resources Limited (ASX: URL) today announced an improved valuation of the Outokumpu (Kylylahti) project in Finland based on a recent tax ruling.
Universal's Managing Director, Dr Alistair Cowden, said he was pleased to see the tax ruling work in favour of the project's valuation.
Universal's market capitalisation is currently A$34m (at 15 cents per share) and the Company has approximately A$17m in cash.
"The market ascribes a value to all our projects of about A$14m - a fraction of KPMG's valuation for the Outokumpu project alone," he said. "In our opinion, that demonstrates a lot of room for growth in the coming months.".....
